Marianne Coats, B.A.

Born in 1963, an outlier year*, Marianne has been true to that model. Her environmental and relationship concepts were an early focus. Her formal training includes a BA in Political Science from NCSU, a certificate in Cooperative Management from UWI-Madison's Cooperative Management Institute, and a certificate in Neurolinguistic Programming.

Professionally, Ms. Coats spent 25 years in business and operations management. Her informal experiences include 12 years studying Native American ways and three miraculous health recoveries using energy dynamics.

EARThink was developed as an idea in 1989 as a way to bring "green" services and products to the market. Initially Ms. Coats developed a rating system for assessing the sustainability of consumer products. In 2002, the business was established to provide sustainable services and consultations.

Incorporated in 2005, EARThink continues to be the vehicle for Ms. Coats to manifest her cooperative, community based concepts of business and sustainable services. The intention behind the mission is to make sustainability accessible and standard, to redefine profitability to include considerations for the long-term prosperity and sustainability of the whole community.

Marianne overcame three intractable health conditions through her understanding of energy dynamics since 1999, they included a detached ligament, Epstein-Barre syndrome, and advance gum disease. While a variety of processes, ceremony and medicines were involved, all the healing began with understanding and was advanced by using the principles of energy dynamics that she has learned. In 2011, it became clear that there is a lot of information and technique to share that can benefit people generally. To this end, EARThink is providing trainings, lecture series and consultations on these principles.

The majority of her understanding of energy dynamics came from teachings of Native American elders and teachers, particularly, Floyd Hand, Loren Zephier, Barbara Morningstar, Ed Littlefox, and Michael RunningWolf are the sources for most of her practical Native-ways knowledge. She has been using and experimenting with the dynamics successfully for 10 years.

* refers to years identified in the book, Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell, as challenging to success.
